Boat Clubs (when
they own the boats) is just
another name for boat rentals except You Pay A Large Fee Down and
Monthly Membership Dues and Sign A Long Term Contract, Read Your
Contract! Are you liable for 6 mos. all 12mos in dues? Unlimited
Boating? Can you book your whole season at one time, example every
Sat. 12 to 8? How late you stay out or stay over night? Is gas
included or do you have to buy fuel? Entry Fee into the parks? As
Club are you liable as a group for someone else as a club member in
a lawsuit? If you late or lost and you stay past your reservation
time, is there penalties - additional charges. How many members are
competing for weekend and holiday times and don't forget the weather
and delays.
Remember the saying, if
it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
Normal season for boating
is approx 6mos.or 24 wks here and mostly weekends and holidays,
average boating time is 20 - 30hrs a season at 2 - 4hrs a week or
less. Example:
$1000 Dn. $200 a month x
6mos. = $2200. / 30hrs = $73 per hr or /20hrs = $110 per hr. Plus
Gas - WOW!
You are still responsible
for any boating accidents or damages (insurance does not cover you)
or non use of equipment, cannot get the time you want, weather, etc.
you still pay monthly dues.
Most rental companies do
not have long term contracts and most furnish the gas. Caution,
unless you go to the party cove all day every weekend, stay over
night be careful of a long term binding contracts. |
